MCCLURE, Ill. -- William D. Bunch, 73, of McClure, died Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born March 9, 1922, in Allentown, Mo., son of Jackson P. and Mayme Leonard Bunch. He and Dorothy Wilson were married March 20, 1945, in Ava.

Bunch was a 1940 graduate of Ava High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the military he was a civilian employee at Scott Air Force Base, retiring in 1976 and moving to McClure.

He was a member of American Legion Post 900 at McClure, Fleet Reserve Association, VFW, Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William Bunch of Caseyville; four daughters, Miriam Fredericks of Lebanon, Ill., Patricia Lemanski and Cecilia Leffler of Collinsville, Delores Strubel of Ballwin; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Ava after 5 p.m. today, and from 7:30-9:45 a.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Ava, with the Rev. Leo Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery.
