William "Bill" J. Noce, 80, of Burfordville passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at his home.
He was born July 3, 1935, in Red River township, Arkansas, son of Tony W. and Ruby L. Gray Noce. He married Susan Provençal on Dec. 16, 1972, in Clinton, Massachusetts.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the Missouri National Guard for 4 1/2 years before signing up for active duty in the U.S. Army. He retired as a sergeant major (E9) after 24 1/2 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked at Saint Francis Medical Center for 24 years, and was an active member of TOPS, becoming Chapter King in 2012. Bill attended Connection Point Church in Jackson, and was a member for 31 years, volunteering often in the Junior Church ministry there.
William is survived by his wife, Susan; four children, William P. (Jolynn) VonHasseln Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Michael E. (Regina) VonHasseln of Jackson, Tiffany M. (Joshua) Munroe of Fruitland and Andrew C. (Lorilynn) Noce of Cape Girardeau. He was the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren: Sarrah R. Deevers, Ashley N. Schott, Corwyne Mann, Nathan Berry, James Hill, Jessica Hill, Deidre Hill and Alexander Mann, Elizabeth J. Andrews, Diandrea (Dakota) Magill, Caitlin VonHasseln and Brynden VonHasseln, Isabella, Emmalee, Shyana and Ryan Munroe, and Jayce and Lucius Noce. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren: Lexi Ann and Ariel Taylor, Sean and Alaina Andrews, Savannah Magill, Aubrey Mann, Leo Berry and Brantley Hill; and his mother-in-law, Katherine (Harold) Sheridan of Littleton, New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby son, Aaron; his stepfather, Curtis Terry; his stepmothers Marie, Lola and Cora; and his father-in-law, Leonard Merrill.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at Connection Point Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Chris Vaught and pastor Kevin Detweiler officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Connection Point building fund or Saint Francis NICU.
