SIKESTON -- William A. Evans, 85, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1992, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1907, at Matthews, son of Gurley and Ettie May Kasinger Evans. He and Opal Mayes were married Sept. 31, 1931, at Canalou. He later married the former Melveda Passmore May 13, 1961, at Vanduser.
Evans was a maintenance worker at Anchor Toy here. He was a member of Parker Memorial Pentecost Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gurley Evans of Kenosha, Wis.; two daughters, Alding Ervin of Indianapolis, Ind., Oline Gregson of St. Louis; three stepsons, Milburn Rainwater of Bethalto, Ill., Elvin and Billy Rainwater of Troy, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Linda Garrett of Plummerville, Ark., Willie Brown of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Geneva Sexton of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 22 great-stepgrandchildren, and 36 great-great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Jerry Harris will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Jim Calvin. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
