Willard Thomas Kunze, 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away on Friday, Sept. 10, 1998, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1915, at Marissa, Ill., the son G. A. and Lena (Keim) Kunze. He served in World War II in the Medical Corps as a pharmacist. He was inducted on Nov. 29, 1943 and was honorably discharged on May 15, 1946. He married Mildred Denton on Jan. 12, 1947, at Belleville, Ill. and she died on Oct. 1, 1970. He married Loretta Wampler on Jan. 20, 1922, and she survives...

He graduated from Belleville High School in 1933, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1937. He was employed at Finney's Drug Store in Cape from 1947-1949 and was a pharmautical sales representative for Eli Lilly & Co. in Indianapolis, Ind. from 1949 until his retirement in 1976. Mr. Kunze was a resident of Cape for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Patricia C. Kassel and son-in-law Willard of Clayton, La.; and a brother, Milton Kunze of Belleville, Ill.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral services will be conducted there at 1:30 pm Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, the Rev. John Owen officiating. Internment will be at Memorial Park in Cape. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Haas, Richard Hildenbrand, Milton George, Melvin Rhodes, Scott Rhodes and Wade Rhodes.
