Willard R. "Willie" Petzoldt, 72, of Port Hadlock, Wash., died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, in Port Townsend, Wash.
He was born May 9, 1933, in Oak Ridge, son of Rito H. and Nelta C. Ludwig Petzoldt. He and Barbara "Kitty" Cronk were married Aug. 21, 1955, in Stockton, Calif.
Petzoldt was a 1951 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He worked in the helicopter industry 42 years, retiring in 1997. He then was self-employed as an FAA consultant and licensed aircraft until 2004.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sequim, Wash., American Legion Post 779 in Terra Bella, Calif., and was post chaplain from 1979 to 1982.
Petzoldt was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Petzoldt of Port Townsend; a daughter, Audrey Macks of Chimacum, Wash.; his mother of Jackson; a brother, Truman Petzoldt of Oak Ridge; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. June 4 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sequim.
