CAIRO, Ill. -- Wilhelma Spence, 87, of Cairo, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was born Nov. 2, 1904, in Cairo, daughter of William and Anna Bader Spence. Spence received a degree in nursing from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing here. She was a registered nurse at the hospital until retiring in 1972. She was also a private duty nurse for many years. Spence was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Wilhelma Spence, 87, of Cairo, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born Nov. 2, 1904, in Cairo, daughter of William and Anna Bader Spence.

Spence received a degree in nursing from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing here. She was a registered nurse at the hospital until retiring in 1972. She was also a private duty nurse for many years. Spence was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include nine nieces and nephews, including Anna Marie Spence of Cairo, Dr. Paul Spence of Cape Girardeau, and a cousin, Salome Reisinger of Cairo.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. Bill McGhee will officiate, with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 6:30.
