JACKSON -- Wilbur E. Crites, 81, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 1, 1912, at Sedgewickville, son of P. Walter and Myrtle Moore Crites. He and Maggie Wolfenkoehler were married July 14, 1952.

Crites worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co. 26 years, retiring in 1972. He also owned/operated Wib's Tavern from 1967-85.

He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Keith Crites of Jackson; a daughter, Joycee Crites of Jackson; two brothers, Walter "Ott" Crites of Jackson, Ralph Crites of Tyler, Texas; a sister, Hazel Johnson of Warren, Mass., and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. An honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
