JONESBORO, Ill. -- Wilbert E. Yates, 91, of Carbondale, Ill., formerly of Jonesboro, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Dec. 7, 1912, in Terre Haute, Ind., son of William D. and Margaret Louise Neuman. He and Margaret M. Isgrig were married Nov. 24, 1938, in Terre Haute.
Yates was a graduate of Newman Hospital School of Nursing in Emporia, Kan., and received a bachelor of science degree from Hanover College in Indiana.
He was a registered nurse and retired in 1973 as director of nurses at the former Anna State Hospital. He was a member of Carbondale Church of Christ and had been active as a Mason and Shriner.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kay Bittle of Marion; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Gerald Cowan officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
