Wib Hutteger

Wilbert William "Wib" Hutteger, 80, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 3, 1930, in New Wells, son of William and Emma Weber Hutteger. He and Jerlene M. Maevers were married Dec. 15, 1949, in El Monte, Calif.

Wib was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where he was an elder, member of the finance board, and an usher. He worked at Ceramo in Jackson 46 years, retiring in 1996. After retiring, he drove for Mouser Auto in Jackson, and U-Haul in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952.

Wib was a member of VFW Post 10495 in Jackson, was an avid Cardinals fan, formerly active in the Jackson Bowling Lane leagues and a member of Travelers Protective Association. Wib enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years; two sons, David (Judy) Hutteger of Cape Girardeau, Rick (Cathy) Hutteger of Jackson; a daughter, Becky (Al) Klob of Jackson; five grandchildren, Amanda (Randy) Morris, Emily Hutteger, Dustin and Megan Hutteger, Courtney Klob; two stepgrandchildren, Kim Conley and Christina Klob; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Stacy Schlegel Meyr of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Delmar Hutteger, and two sisters, Viola Perr and Florence Meyr.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with full military honors.
