Wesley E. Brown, 62, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 18, 1944, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., son of Paul E. and Nellie Marie Stanley Brown. The family lived near Neelys Landing.
He worked several years for Union Mechling Barge Lines. He was a self-employed truck driver, and then drove for Jerry Lipps Trucking, Birk Trucking, and Bloomsdale Excavating. He was a member of Teamsters Local 600 in Cape Girardeau.
Wesley is remembered for his love of quarter horses, which he raised for many years. He especially enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River, rabbit hunting and attending shooting matches in Biehle, Mo.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Daina (Richard) Bert, and granddaughter Olivia all of Oak Ridge; special friend, Gladys Howard of Jackson; his mother, Nellie Marie Brown of Jackson; a brother, William "Bill" Brown of Jackson; two sisters, Margaret Morton and Brenda Reker of Cape Girardeau; and six nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to High Hill Church Cemetery or the American Heart Association.
