CAIRO, Ill. -- Wendell T. Stevens, 75, of Waterloo, formerly of Cairo, died Friday, July 28, 1995, at Monroe County Nursing Home in Waterloo.
He was born Mar. 15, 1920, in Cairo, son of Americus and Fleecy Bowers Stevens.
He was a retired employee of the Illinois Power Co. He was a veteran of the Marine Corp., serving during World War II.
He is survived by a stepson, Randy Ozburn of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Marie Polites of College Station, Texas, Bonnie Haake of Waterloo, and Wendy Mitchell of Ocala, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Debbie Porth of Belleville, Ill.; three brothers, Dan Stevens of Pauls Valley, Okla., Robert Stevens of Daytona Beach, Fla., and C.W. "Slick" Stevens of Cache, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo with the Rev. Bill Gholson officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
