Weldon L. Slinkard, 84, of Jackson died Friday, Sept. 1, 1995, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Cape Girardeau County, son of David and Ollie McLain Slinkard. He and Amelia Brucker were married Sept. 10, 1935. She preceded him in death Sept. 16, 1987.
Slinkard was a lifelong farmer and was also employed as a carpenter by the David McDowell Construction Co. before retiring in 1968.
Survivors include two sons, John D. and James M. Slinkard, both of Jackson; four daughters, Ruth Ann Hobeck and Mary Lou Hanners, both of Jackson, Wanda Stone of Daisy and Sharon Kay Eldridge of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Norman Slinkard of Delta; five sisters, Gladys Bond of Shell Knob, Novella Howell of Delta, and Bette Crites, Pat Statler and Jane Klaus, all of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sons.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. C.B. Stidham officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
