ADVANCE, Mo. — Weldon Dewaine Hinkle, 78, of Advance passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, with his family by his side. ADVANCE, Mo. — Weldon Dewaine Hinkle, 78, of Advance passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, with his family by his side.

He was born July 26, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Otto and Lola Borders Hinkle. His first marriage was to Donna Messer. After her death, he married Judith Ann Chailland on May 28, 1999, in Advance.

Weldon was a 1962 graduate of Zalma (Missouri) High School. He retired in 1999 after being employed 30 years with Missouri Department of Transportation.

He was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the U.S. Army 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

He enjoyed deer hunting, turkey hunting, St. Louis Cardinals ballgames and being at his farm.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Hinkle, and daughter, Kim Wilcox, both of Advance; grandson, Christian Florek of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Mildred Proffer, and sister-in-law, Betty Hinkle, both of Advance; and a niece and three nephews.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ivan and Milford Hinkle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
