EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for William Colmore "W.C." Stallings of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Larry Smith and James Day will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Stallings, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in East Prairie, son of James Albert and Rosa Lee Grant Stallings. He and Helen B. Thompson were married June 20, 1942.

Stallings was a retired farmer, and member of First Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne and Billy Stallings of East Prairie; two daughters, Linda Ellis and Sandy Shipman of East Prairie; a sister, Ruth Williams of Sikeston; a brother, Walter Stallings of Sikeston; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
