BENTON -- Wayne Diamond, 82, of Benton died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born July 31, 1915, in Pocahontas, Ark., son of Mont Gobel and Tina Ellen Grissom Diamond. He and Oma Zena Hopkins were married April 3, 1937, at Benton. She died Oct. 26, 1992.
Diamond retired as a supervisor with Scott County Highway Department. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, Morley Masonic Lodge 184, and Morley Eastern Star Chapter 340. He had lived at Benton since 1923.
Survivors include a son, Larry Diamond of Sikeston; two daughters, Norma Kidd of Highland, Ill., Fern Schreckenberg of Leopold; three sisters, Letha Spencer of Cape Girardeau, Ethel Cannon of Benton, Stella West of Wentzville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-9 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at the chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
