Wayne Dale Coleson was born Feb. 25, 1963, in Brawley, California, to the late Floyd and Betty Coleson. He was united with Jesus on Saturday, April 8, 2023, surrounded by his family and closest friends.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Coleson; son, Nathan (Kiersten) Coleson; sisters, Brenda (Stanley) Key and Gail (Johnny) Ryan; and brother, Mike Coleson. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Coleson; sister, Marilyn Kaufman; brother-in-law, Billy Kaufman; and sister-in-law, Patrisha Coleson. He was also preceded in death by many close friends.
He was also blessed to have lifelong friends he called "brothers."
Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Laura Elizabeth "Benza" Coleson, on Oct. 28, 1989.
His greatest joy was his family. Wayne was a helping hand for all, a prideful painter and a role model for many.
Wayne and Laura shared 44 years together, building their life from the ground up, raising their son, Nathan Wayne Coleson.
Wayne grew up in McClure, Illinois, and attended Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake, Illinois.
He was in Painters Union Local 1199 for 43 years, and worked for Anheuser-Busch for 27 years. He began his own business, Wayne Coleson Painting, in 2011. He retired from the Union Hall on March 1, 2021.
In retirement, Wayne enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his dog, Callie May, and grand-dogs, Jax and Zari.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Teague officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
