Memorial service for Warren McClellan Sarff of Kirkwood was held Jan. 25 at First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Sarff, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1912, at Gideon, Mo., son of John Wilford and Mae Shaw Sarff. He and Nancy Glick were married Dec. 8, 1945.

Sarff received a bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1934 and was an athlete. He received a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri at Columbia.

He began his teaching career in 1934 at Bell City, Mo. He then taught and was principal at Jackson R-2 Schools, Riverview Gardens High School in St. Louis County and was an educator in Kirkwood 30 years.

Sarff was a deacon and usher at First Presbyterian Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Beverly Lamkin of Plano, Texas, Janet Sarff of San Diego, Calif., Nancy Robertson of Kirkwood; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
