MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Ward C. Yocks, 91, of Marble Hill passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at his home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Belleville, Illinois, son of Elmer J. and Virginia Christ Yocks. He and Marie M. Crank were married in July 1955. She preceded him in death Sept. 10, 2011.
Ward was a builder in the construction industry.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned three Bronze Stars and three Presidential Citations for his service in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon.
Survivors include cousins Diana McGraw of Alton, Illinois, Michelle McGraw, Ryan and Ethan Foley of Godfrey, Illinois, Michael (Kris) Madison and Klein McGraw of Leawood, Kansas; and a niece and nephew, Carolyn and Dean Lowe of Puxico, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Willey Joe Bathe.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Leslie officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military honors.
