ANNA, Ill. -- Wanda Smith, 61, of Freeburg died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Mar-Ka Community Care Center in Mascoutah. She was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Union County, daughter of Jewell C. and Lucille Barker Jackson. She and Byron Smith were married Jan. 26, 1957, in Mississippi. He died July 31, 1997...

ANNA, Ill. -- Wanda Smith, 61, of Freeburg died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Mar-Ka Community Care Center in Mascoutah.

She was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Union County, daughter of Jewell C. and Lucille Barker Jackson. She and Byron Smith were married Jan. 26, 1957, in Mississippi. He died July 31, 1997.

Smith was a seamstress. She was a member of United Church of Christ, VFW Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star, all in Freeburg.

Survivors include a daughter, Carole Smith of Freeburg; her father of Anna; two sisters, Doris Whiteside of Dongola, Pamela Gee of Carterville; three brothers, Ronal Jackson of South Elgin, Gary and Roger Jackson of Anna.

She was preceded in death by her mother, a sister, and a brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
