CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Wanda J. Slayton, daughter of the late Dennis Hughes and Mary Viola Breedlove, was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Lafont, Arkansas, and departed her life Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at her residence in Chaffee at the age of 80 years.
Wanda was united in marriage to John Chiles, and he preceded her in death. She was then married to Glenn Kinder, and he preceded her in death. Wanda was then united in marriage to Claude Slayton, and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby (Sharon) Smith of Illinois; Lindell (Angie) Kinder of Rockview, Missouri; and Danny (DeAnn) Kinder of Scopes, Missouri; three daughters, JoWanda Chiles of Chaffee, Glenda (Pete) Brown of Waynesville, Missouri, and Sharon (Matt) Wiseman of Jackson; sister, Sylvia M. Mabrey of Wentzville, Missouri; and 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Johney, Clarence and Carl Hughes; a sister, Marie Burton; and two sisters at infancy, Kathrine and LaVonda Hughes.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
