Walter W. Bender, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Walter W. Bender, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 7, 1911, in Cape Girardeau, son of William Frederick and Anna Burke Bender.

He was a boiler maker and a construction worker. He also was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boiler Makers and of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Bender of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Bert A. Bender of Tempe, Ariz.; a brother, Arthur Bender of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Laura Birk of St. Charles, Ruth Bender of Cape Girardeau and Irma Gillula of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. David V. Dissen will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
