SCOTT CITY -- Walter Vincent Porter, 83, of Scott City died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 25, 1915, at Sedalia to Clyde Carlyle Porter and Cevia Christina Zinn.

On Feb. 16, 1944, at Oceola, Ark., he married Virginia Porter, who died July 31, 1998.

He was a master sergeant in the Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta and VFW Post 3838.

Survivors include a son, Lary Porter of Grove Hill, Ala.; two daughters, Judy MacNutt of O'Fallon, Ill., and Shirley Porter of Scott City; and two grandchildren. A brother, two sisters and a grandchild preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau, with the VFW providing graveside services.
