SIKESTON, Mo. -- Graveside service for Walter O. Swiney of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn, Mo. Woody Phillips will officiate.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Swiney, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 2,1919, in Booneville, Miss., son of Clyde H. and Vivian B. Swiney. He married Evelyn McCombs, who died April 18, 1997.

Swiney was a retired farmer and a member of Morehouse Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, Bob Swiney of Morehouse; a daughter, Martha Ice of New Madrid, Mo.; three brothers, Billy Swiney of Sikeston, James Swiney of New Madrid, Ray Swiney of Brownsville, Texas; a sister, Marie Copeland of Sikeston; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
