GOREVILLE, Ill. -- Walter B. Martin, 75, of Goreville died Friday, May 7, 1999, at his son's home in Herrin.
He was born July 31, 1923, at Mounds, son of James G. and Amanda A. Walters Martin. He and Emma Kaye Meredith were married on March 15, 1941.
Martin was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific.
He is survived by four sons, Walter M. Martin of East Cape Girardeau, Donald E. Martin of Tamms, James E. Martin of Herrin, Stephen Martin of Golconda; a daughter, Sherry L. Voigt of Mounds; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Martin was preceded in death by his wife, two children, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dare Aden officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
