MARQUAND, Mo. — Walter "Jay" Long, 87, of Fenton, Mo., died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his home.
He was born Dec. 14, 1920, at Marquand, son of the Rev. Henry and Nettie Denman Long. He and Virginia Easley were married July 18, 1942, at Marquand.
Long served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a retired boilerman for National Lead Co. and a member of Liberty Congregational Methodist Church near Marquand.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Long of Marble Hill, Mo.; five daughters, Phyllis Petry of High Ridge, Mo., Henrietta Ruehl of Camdenton, Mo., Connie Coibion of Farmington, Mo., Vicki Hessler of Fenton, Sherry Schrader, Pevely, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two infant grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, and Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Liberty Methodist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jamie Hovis officiating, Burial will be in the church cemetery.
