JACKSON, Mo. -- Funeral for Walter E. Kasten of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, and then at the church after 1 p.m.
Kasten, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 6, 1911, at Shawneetown, Mo., son of Henry and Marie Boren Kasten. He and Elda Sperling were married July 11, 1937.
Kasten was employed by city of Jackson from 1939-81, serving as street superintendent 34 years. He was a member of St. Paul Church, charter member of the Men's Club, and had served as an elder, trustee, and on the finance board.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Margie Hoffman of St. Louis, Joyce McCain of Boston, Mass., Lois Kasten of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.
