CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Walter J. Oberndorfer of Cape Girardeau will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The Rev. David V. Dissen will officiate, and burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Oberndorfer died Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 82.
He was born Aug. 15, 1908 at Uniontown, the son of Benjamin and Bertha Kramer Oberndorfer.
On Feb. 24, 1947, he married the former Monica Koberl in Altenburg, who survives.
He worked as meat-cutter for Central Packing Co. in Cape Girardeau prior to his retirement. He also was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Other survivors include a brother, Theophil Oberndorfer of Altenburg; and three sisters, Paula Kassel, Hildegard Hacker and Norma Hacker, all of Perryville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
