Walter J. "Dub" Niswonger, 67, 257 Capaha Trail, died Tuesday, July 25, 1995, at his home.
He was born Nov. 7, 1927, at Cape Girardeau, son of Walter W. and Viola Mary Hagon Niswonger. He and Ruby B. Cronenbold were married Feb. 1, 1950, at Osceola, Ark.
Niswonger was stationed in Japan with the U.S. Army during World War II. He later worked for Frisco Railroad. He also established the Niswonger Service Station and Garage but later sold the business. He then worked as a truck driver for Central Foods, retiring in 1984.
He was also a member of the VFW Post 3838, the American Legion and the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Alan W. Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Rhonda Poe and Marilyn Cook Ernst of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Lester L. Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; a sister, May Hudson of Lesterville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. David V. Dissen officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery.
