BLODGETT, Mo. -- Walter David "Dub" Deason Jr., 82, of Blodgett passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at his home.
Dub was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Blythville, Arkansas, to the late Walter David Deason and Lela Victoria Riggs Deason. On Dec. 9, 1960, he married Ella Virginia Gardner who preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2003.
He was a member of Trinity Chapel on North Sixth Street in Sikeston, Missouri, a Korean War veteran, retired as a sergeant first class in the Army Reserve, owned and operated Deason's Store in Blodgett and was a retired postmaster from the Blodgett post office.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter David (Jan) Deason III of Cabot, Arkansas, Ronald William (Laura) Deason of St. Clair, Missouri, and Phillip Wayne (Dana) Deason of Blodgett; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Ella Victoria Mae "Vicki" Deason (Brad) Marks of Hillsboro, Missouri, and Hope Anne Deason (Joe) Zarro of St. Charles, Missouri; one sister, Doris Stella Mae Deason Ingram of Monet, Arkansa; eighteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie Rector Deason, Claude Owen Deason, Clyde Woodrow Deason and Gordon William Deason; two sisters, Dorothy Ida Deason and Ethel Louise Deason Franks; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home.
The funeral service will at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Bob Deason of McMinnville, Tennessee, Kevin Deason of Viola, Tennessee, and Jeff Martin of Sikeston will officiate. Pallbearers will be Daniel Deason, Thomas Deason, Jeffery Deason, Ryan Marks, Michael Foote and Jeffrey Scherer. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Carmack, Ben Marks, Joey Zarro, Josh Lewis, Adam Zarro, Samuel Zarro, John Scarbrough, Bill Scarbrough, Carl Bogle, Glen Forbis, Bob Porter and John Braden. Interment will be in Blodgett Cemetery with full military honors.
