Walter Solmund Anderssen Jr. was born Nov. 18, 1933, in St. Louis, and fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Cape Girardeau.
He is survived by his brothers, J. Ronald (Fran) Anderssen of Leopold, Missouri, and Richard (Susie) Anderssen Sr. of Plano, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, grand- nieces and grand-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Walter S. Sr. and Genevieve Saettele Anderssen; and a sister, Karen Anderssen.
Walter "Sonny" Anderssen was an Army veteran serving in Germany. He worked various sales and labor positions in his career and lived in Atlanta before moving to Marble Hill, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hutchings Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 17357 Stars and Stripes Way in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Church in Leopold.
