Wallace G. Ressel, 63, of Olathe, Kan., passed away peacefully with his wife by his side Thursday, March 30, 2006.
Born to Moses and Iva Ressel March 11, 1943, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia, Mo., in 1961. He later attended Central Missouri State University and completed a bachelor's degree in business.
He worked in the insurance industry 37 years, retiring for health reasons. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed sporting events, boating, hunting, fishing and many other activities with his family.
He split his time between his home at the Lake of the Ozarks and his primary residence in Olathe. He was an original member of Prince of Peace Parish in Olathe, and a member of St. Anthony's Parish at the lake.
Wallace was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was always eager to arrange extended family gatherings at his home on the lake. He supported the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging and sponsored Zippora and Jervin of the Philippians for more than 10 years. He also supported Christian missionaries and education initiatives in Ghana, Africa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rosie, of Olathe; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Boxler and spouse Len Boxler of Overland Park, Kan.; two sons, Aaron Ressel, Jeremy Ressel and spouse Joy Ressel, all of Olathe. Grandchildren include Daniel, Zakary, Nathan, Brytnie, Jennifer and Jamie.
Living siblings include brothers, Paul of Four Oaks, N.C., Fred of St. Charles, Mo., Don of Rocky Mount, Mo.; a sister, Theresa Reynolds of Cape Girardeau; a stepbrother, Peter Daniels; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Charles and Ralph Ressel.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kan., 66062.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 416 W. 3rd, Sedalia, Mo., 65301. Visitation in Sedalia one hour prior to the service.
