PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Wallace I. "Wally" Bohnert, 90, of Perryville died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Independence Care Center.
He was born Oct. 26, 1920, at Longtown, Mo., son of Joseph W. and Thresia Geringer Bohnert. He and Rosetta M. Kline were married May 4, 1948. She preceded him in death July 31, 2000.
Bohnert worked at International Shoe Co., and was also a carpenter at Miners Lumber Co. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 4282.
He served his country during World War II as a corporal in the U.S. Army.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Rita (Daniel) Coffey and Dianne (Larry) Brown of Perryville; three sons, James (Brenda King) Bohnert, Jerry (Mary Welden) Bohnert, Dale (Verna Zahner) Bohnert, all of Perryville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home. A VFW service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Sunday and parish prayers will be at 7. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul school system, American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
