MARBLE HILL -- Funeral service for Vonda Smith of New Athens, Ill., will be held at 1 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. James Merritt will officiate, with burial in Hurricane Fork Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m.

Smith, 52, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1993, at her home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Kennett, daughter of Loyd and Mary Hanners McCray. She and Jerry Smith were married May 15, 1972.

The Smiths moved to New Athens in 1988 from Potosi. She was a member of Cadet Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Brian Talley of St. Louis; four daughters, Donna Willett of Kennett, Angela, Vickie and Betty Smith of New Athens; a sister, Veda Welker of Marble Hill, and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, a brother and four sisters.
