CHAFFEE, Mo. -- VJ Allen, 90, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born May 13, 1923, in Morley, Mo., to William O. and Viola Nanney Brasher. She and coach James Allen were married Nov. 25, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.

VJ was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, the National Secretaries Association and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Max Stovall Block and Brick.

Survivors include a nephew, Bradley Joe Teichman of Chaffee; three nieces, Sharon L. Brasher of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Mary C. Williford and Joyce; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Brasher of Horseshoe Bend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
