SCOTT CITY -- Vivian Catlett, 70, of Scott City died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at her home. She was born July 6, 1927, in Scott County, daughter of Hazel Marie Backus and Mr. Backus. She married Anthony P. Catlett in November 1976 in St. Louis. He died in April 1984...

SCOTT CITY -- Vivian Catlett, 70, of Scott City died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at her home.

She was born July 6, 1927, in Scott County, daughter of Hazel Marie Backus and Mr. Backus. She married Anthony P. Catlett in November 1976 in St. Louis. He died in April 1984.

Catlett attended night school in St. Louis. She was a claims examiner 27 years with General American Life Insurance Co. She retired and moved to Cape Girardeau in 1988, and then moved to Scott City in 1994. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Michael McClard of St. Louis; two daughters, Nancy Matthew and Virginia Smith of St. Louis; a half brother, Jack Perry of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a brother.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Friends may also call at Kutis Funeral Home on Gravois in St. Louis from 4-9 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kutis. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Lemay.
