THEBES, Ill. -- Virtus Childers, 90, of Thebes died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 13, 1907, at Thebes, the daughter of Alfred McClellan and Victoria Eugenia Michamp Light. She and Dewitt Childers were married Oct. 14, 1925. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1978...

THEBES, Ill. -- Virtus Childers, 90, of Thebes died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 13, 1907, at Thebes, the daughter of Alfred McClellan and Victoria Eugenia Michamp Light. She and Dewitt Childers were married Oct. 14, 1925. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1978.

She was a member of Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a son, an infant daughter, and a sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Harold Whitsell will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
