Virginia Conner Zimmer, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 24, 1914, in Portsmouth, Ohio, daughter of Hiram and Ada Beckleham Hazlett. She and Chester M. Conner were married Nov. 16, 1935, in Vanceburg, Ky. He died in 1971. She was married to Al Zimmer June 14, 1975, in Houston. He died in 1983.
Zimmer moved to Cape Girardeau in 1975. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a life member of Friends of Saint Francis.
She attended Portsmouth schools, the last being Portsmouth Business College. She had worked at Ohio Valley Bank in Portsmouth, Dayton Signal Depot, and was an employment counselor 15 years with Ohio State Employment Service.
Survivors include two great-nephews, Ralph Newton III and W. Ward Newton of Houston.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be from noon to service time Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
