VIRGINIA WIETING

VILLA RIDGE, Ill.-- Virginia Wieting, 77 of Villa Ridge died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Thebes, the daughter of B. Fred and Elsie Jones Penrod. She married Joseph H. "Red" Wieting, and he died in 1981.

She retired after 25 years as a postal clerk at the Villa Ridge Post Office.

She belonged to Villa Ridge Union Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue Richter of Alexandria, Va., Nettie Trexler of Ullin and Sara Wieting of Joppa; a sister, Geneva Banks of Paducah, Ky.; and five grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, a daughter, a brother and a grandson preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery west of Villa Ridge.
