LILBOURN -- Funeral service for Virginia Vanover Thompson of Lilbourn will be held at 1 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Ronnie Collier will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Thompson, 78, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Sikeston, daughter of William Thomas and Myrtle Burns Medcalf. She and Lester "Buddy" Vanover were married in 1936. He died in February 1963. She later married Burl Thompson Jan. 23, 1976, at Oran.
Thompson was a member of Eagles Auxiliary at Sikeston.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Myron Vanover of Sikeston, Buddy Vanover of Bertrand, Jerry and Tony Vanover of St. Charles; two sisters, Patsy Collier of Jackson, Billie Baker of St. Joseph, Mich.; a stepbrother, Herbert Hadley of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, her parents, a brother, two sisters, and stepmother.
