Virginia L. Stewart, 90, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, with family at her side.

Virginia was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Leon and Vene Garrfield Stone Haman.

She graduated from high school in Cape Girardeau and obtained her teaching degree from the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College.

On Oct. 10, 1941, she married Nelson Albert Stewart in Mexico, Mo.

Virginia was a teacher at Western High in Anaheim, Calif., where she taught music, art and math. She retired in 1980.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Patsy Stogdill of Grapeview and Ginger Kral (Kim) of Colorado; sons, Nelson Stewart II (Carlene) of Olympia, Wash., Robert Nelson (Yolanda) of Louisiana, Leon Stewart (Kim) of Kansas, John Stewart (Annette) of Lacey, Wash.; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by husband Nelson; a son, Jim Stewart; and a son-in-law, Mark Stogdill.
