SCOTT CITY -- Virginia Lee Porter, 72, of Scott City died Friday, July 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born in Cape Girardeau Feb. 21, 1926, daughter of William and Martha Angle Firestone. On Feb. 16, 1944, she married Walter Porter at Osceola, Ark.
She had worked as a shoe stitcher at Florsheim shoe factory in Advance until retirement. She later worked at the flea market in East Cape Girardeau, Ill. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta, where she taught Sunday School classes for many years.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Larry Porter of Grove Hill, Ala.; two daughters, Shirley Lee Porter of Schott City and Judy Ann MacNutt of O'Fallon, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, sister and granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Funeral will be held at 1;30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
