VIRGINIA OWENS

Funeral for Virginia Owens of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. S.S. Borum will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

Owens, 90, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services of Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 26, 1909, in Advance, daughter of William and Jenny Fitzwater Yates. She and Charles Ivan Owens were married June 24, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. He died June 25, 1973.

Owens worked at International Shoe Co. 38 years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She had lived in Cape Girardeau more than 70 years.

Survivors include a son, Bill Owens; a daughter, Virginia Schobey of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, four brothers, and five sisters.
