Virginia O'Brien, daughter of the late Alvin and Vera McGhee Held, was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Illmo and departed her life Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at her home in Scott City.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Eisleben Lutheran Church.

On Dec. 16, 1978, she was united in marriage to Larry O'Brien in Scott City. He survives of the home.

Besides her husband, survivors include three sons, Bradley (Kim) Schiwitz of Frisco, Texas, and Charles (Shannon) Schiwitz and Stephen (Amy) O'Brien, both of Scott City; two daughters, Rebecca (Melvin) Rhodes of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Regina Schiwitz of Cape Girardeau; by two brothers, Robert Held of Festus, Missouri, and Fred Held of Fairdealing, Missouri; three sisters, Sharon Hillemann of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Donna Carr and Debbie Gill, both of Oran, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Eisleben Lutheran Church Lady's Aid Fund. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
