Virginia Lee Meyr, 77, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Jackson Manor. She was born June 5, 1928, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of John and Minnie Schloss McFerron. She and Paul E. Meyr were married Dec. 29, 1946, in St. Louis. They had been married 56 years when he passed away May 17, 2003...

Virginia Lee Meyr, 77, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Jackson Manor.

She was born June 5, 1928, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of John and Minnie Schloss McFerron. She and Paul E. Meyr were married Dec. 29, 1946, in St. Louis. They had been married 56 years when he passed away May 17, 2003.

Virginia worked at the former International Shoe Co. and the former Litz Brothers Poultry Co., both in Jackson. She then worked in insurance at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1990.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 19-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two sons, Gerald Meyr of Seattle, Wash., Randy Meyr of St. Peters, Mo.; a grandson, Alex Meyr of St. Peters; and a sister, Carolyn Myer of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Tate and Irene Glenn.

Friends may call today from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and Friday after 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
