PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Virginia Lee Meister, 67, of Perryville died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born July 16, 1941, in Perry County, Mo., daughter of Russell A. and Gladys Bass Elder.
Meister was a greeter at Wal-Mart. She had also worked at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. She had lived in many places from Australia to New York.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Meister of Chicago; two sisters, Cynthia Wilson of Perryville, JoAnn Moore of Fenton, Mo.; a brother, Thomas Elder of Perryville; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 4:45 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
