Virginia Cecelia Martin, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 31, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of George and Anna Bank Hoffer. She and Gebhard Martin were married July 8, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death.

Martin was a sales clerk and cake decorator at Martin's Bakery from 1949-72. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include three sons, Gilbert Martin of Cape Girardeau, Charles Martin of Ellisville, Jerome Martin of Carlinville, Ill.; a daughter, Anna Pluth of Dublin, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, a half brother and a half sister.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 7, and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
