Virginia Marie Ervin, 86, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1912, near Daisy, daughter of William Harrison and Effie Friese Moore. On Jan. 30, 1932, she married Clarence Hezekiah Ervin in Cape Girardeau where she lived all of her adult life. He preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1989.
She worked as a waitress at the Marquette Hotel, Idan-Ha Hotel, Colonial Restaurant and the Alvarado. Upon retirement, she and her husband served as custodians at the First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau from 1966 to 1976.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau where she sang in the adult choir, was a member of the R.M. Barrett Missionary Circle and taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her spouse; a daughter, Shirley A. Blaylock of Cape Girardeau; three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a brother, Ed Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carol Knight of Cape Girardeau; four grandsons, Mark Blaylock of Overland, William B. Blaylock of Eureka, and Derek B. Knight and Tracy Lohmeier, both of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Tracy R. Lohmeier of Cape Girardeau; and four great-grandsons, Brandon R. and Brian Blaylock, both of Overland, and Ian and Austin Blaylock, both of Eureka.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. David Griesemer officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park.
