MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Virginia Faye Griffin Lindsay, 69, of Matthews died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home, following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Luxora, Ark., daughter of John Wesley and Eddis M. Jowers Smith. She and Clyde D. Griffin were married March 31, 1949. He died March 26, 1981. She and William J. Lindsay were married Aug. 15, 1984...

MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Virginia Faye Griffin Lindsay, 69, of Matthews died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home, following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Luxora, Ark., daughter of John Wesley and Eddis M. Jowers Smith. She and Clyde D. Griffin were married March 31, 1949. He died March 26, 1981. She and William J. Lindsay were married Aug. 15, 1984.

Lindsay had lived in rural Matthews more than 50 years. She was a member of Powerhouse of God Church in Sikeston, Mo.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Wayne Griffin of Matthews; a daughter, Jeanice Griffin of East Prairie; a sister, Elva Elledge of Texarkana, Ark.; three stepsons, Mark Lindsay of Dallas, Texas, Randy Lindsay of Saluda, N.C., Jeff Lindsay of Sylva, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Terry Burke of Jackson, Suszanne Duplissey of Dallas; two grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie from 5-8:30 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with David Craig officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
