Virginia Kratz, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Washington, Mo., to John H. and Ethel Cole Brinkmann. She and Dr. Paul Kratz were married June 12, 1943, in Washington.
Kratz was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She had attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo., and received a registered nursing degree from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis. Virginia graduated from Kansas City General Hospital School in 1946. She was the school nurse with Jackson School District in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Survivors include a son, Paul Christopher Kratz and wife Barbara of Chula Vista, Calif.; three daughters, Robin O'Gara and husband Richard of Cheyenne, Wyo., Elizabeth Lohmann and husband Leon of Cape Girardeau, Karen Kothe and husband Vernon of Perryville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Christine Bates and Nicole Anderson of Cheyenne, Curtis Lohmann and Aaron Moore of Cape Girardeau, Jon Michael Kratz of Chula Vista; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
