Virginia R. Crawford, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Manning and Lena Sander Crawford.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
She worked as district secretary for Southwestern Bell over 46 years. Virginia was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers and held several offices in that volunteer organization.
She faithfully coordinated the Salvation Army's Red Kettle bell-ringing fundraising efforts for the Telephone Pioneers for 30 years. She also was a great supporter of the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri. She loved all animals and especially her cocker spaniels, who were the light of her life. Her faithful friend Buddy was always by her side.
Virginia was a very generous person and was an excellent cook.
Virginia leaves to mourn special friends Mary Lowes, Marsha Haskell, Gordon and Kathy Jameson and Greg and Delphia Jameson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating.
